Penggunaan "Used to"

Used to digunakan untuk kebiasaan di masa lampau yang tidak terjadi lagi. Used to be used for practice in the past that does not happen again. Sebagai contoh: For example:

• I used to play soccer at weekends. I used to play soccer at weekends. ( Saya dulunya selalu main bola di akhir pekan ) (Tetapi sekarang tidak lagi) (I used to always play the ball on the weekends) (But not anymore)
• He used to get up at 5.30, but now he gets up at 8.00. He Used to get up at 5.30, but now he gets up at 8:00.

Used to juga digunakan untuk situasi dan fakta di masa lampau. Used to also be used for the situation and the facts in the past. Contoh: Example:

• People used to think the world was square. People Used to think the world was square.
• He used to be a film director. He Used to be a movie director.

Used to digunakan hanya dalam past simple tense. Used to be used only in the simple past tense. Contoh: Example:

• We used to work together. We Used to work together. (Kami dulunya bekerja bersama). (We used to work together). Benar True
• We use to work together. We use to work together. Tidak benar Not true

Used to bisa digunakan dalam pertanyaan dan kalimat negatif seperti kata kerja lainnya. Used to be used in questions and negative sentences like other verbs. Contoh: Example:

• I didn't use to exercise regularly. I Did not use to exercise regularly.
• Did you use to work here? Did you use to work here?

Perhatikan bahwa penggunaan did dan kata kerja dasar use (tanpa “ d “) sama seperti pertanyaan dan bentuk kalimat negatif normal. Note that the use did and basic verb use (without the "d") is the same as the questions and negative sentences normal form.

Used to memiliki struktur yang sangat berbeda dengan be used to . Used to digunakan untuk kebiasaan, dan be used to berarti menjadi terbiasa terhadap sesuatu. Used to have a structure very different to be Used to. Used to be used for customs, and be Used to mean become accustomed to something..
